Why Buy a Twin Mattress
The greatest advantage of a twin mattress is the size. You will be able to fit twin mattress in a small room and still find place for other furniture. Spare bedrooms usually aren’t large enough to accommodate large beds in addition to furniture, but a twin mattress is often the perfect fit.
Bunk beds and trundle beds match the size of a twin mattress, so they are ussualy the choice when child’s bedroom is being made. You can place two twin mattresses in one room, in case both of your children are there, and solve a lot of problems. You can also add some electric mattresses to make them warmer. Children want their independence, and giving each of them their own bed in a shared room makes them feel more independent.
Down Side of a Twin Mattress
The size of twin mattresses is their strength, but it is in the same time their weakness. It is hard for an adult to have a comfortable sleep on a twin mattress, since they are too short.

There’s the new twin, extra long, got it’s start from college campuses across the country. Pain in rear when you’re first trying to find bedding thats fits. My daughter’s been out of college long enough that it’s no longer new and you do see them everywhere now. When she was a freshman, it was a real chore. I think a regular twin is the same length as standard mattress, a double. It’s only when you hit queen and king thats it’s longer.
Sheets, comforters etc, are far cheaper for the standard size twin, about half of what a queen or king costs. The extra long twins aren’t cheap either.

Extra long twin beds would have come in handy for my family – I have three brothers well over six feet tall and I can remember walking into their rooms seeing their feet hanging well over the edge of their beds as they slept! Glad to hear that it’s easier to find bedding for the extra long twin beds now and yes, bedding seems to double or triple in price the bigger the bed is!
