I’ve had a busy few days. Sad few days actually. My dear cousin passed away Monday evening in Ottawa and my brother, my sister in law and I traveled to Ottawa on Friday to attend the visitation and then the funeral mass on Saturday.
The drive from Toronto takes about five hours and I had to meet my brother and sister in law in a certain area as they were driving so it took me close to an extra hour to get to our meeting area (and back when we arrive back in Toronto) so it’s been a long 32 hours! Yes… 32 hours from the start of my journey Friday morning to my arrival home at about 5 pm Saturday evening. I feel like one of those millermatic machines has been trying to weld me together or something …
I’m sad that my cousin is no longer with us, but at least she is no longer in pain or suffering and her close family can begin to heal now too.
The only good thing about family funerals is the fact that we get to see family members that we barely ever see – except at these type of events. This time I vowed that I would keep in touch with most of my cousins via email or telephone. My cousin from detroit’s new wife even seemed interested in visiting Toronto for the first time .. so maybe we’ll start having happier “distant” relative get togethers soon. I certainly hope so!
